Greetings Parents, children and friends,
Wow term 3 is here at last :) I hope you all had a wonderful break and the weather was fantastic!!
We especially welcome Chirara to our class all the way from Italy - we hope you have a long and happy association with St Marys - we are a awesome school!
Thank you to all the parents who came to parent interview last term - it was valuable for Mrs Wilson and myself to share with you what your children are doing at school.
Now that Mr O'Neill and I have worked out the password to the blog I will endeavor to get the stories that have won up on it as well as photos taken throughout the last few terms.
This term we are studying and celebrating our own culture - as individual families and as a class and school. I look forward to learning about where all my children are from - we have children in Room 3 from Philippines, East Timor, Italy, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Chile, India, New Zealand European, New Zealand Maori and Hungry - what a lot to learn.
Another big focus this term is learning and retaining our Multiplication tables - it is an essential skill for the children to learn and it certainly helps with all areas of Maths!
The children should also be reading - this is without the tv or computer on as this can prove to be a distraction. Children of this age should be reading for at least 20 minutes every night. More information will follow during the term about ideas to get your child to read :)
Keep checking back to see how much I have managed to upload.

Week 2 Winner - Valentine
When is the Bumble
Bee going to rest?
Camp was the same
as usual except the part of how I found a bumble bee.
I called him Mr
Fuzzy. His black and yellow coat
shimmered in the sunlight. His delicate
antlers twitched while his wings shimmered amongst the leaves.
It was only 2 more
days until I was going home. 2 more days
until I could let Mr Fuzzy sleep next to me on my pillow. I couldn’t wait to show Mr Fuzzy his own bed.
“Night campers”
Miss Melody called.
I put Mr Fuzzy in
his tissue box.
As I snuggled up
in my sleeping bag, I couldn’t stop twitching.
The word bed ran through my head.
I was eager to show my pet bumble bee his new bed. Even though I was going to have to hide Mr
Fuzzy from my parents.
I tried one more
time again trying to go to sleep. When I
opened my eyes again, the bright sunlight shone through my tent. I could hear the glorious music of the birds
singing.
Our first subject
for the day was finding the honey brown bear that Miss Melody hid. Of course Nikki found it.
Mr Fuzzy laid
comfortably on my shoulder. Tomorrow
would be the day I went home! We were on
our way back to the camping ground. I
bent down to pick up another flower. It
was a royal blue violet.
I then put Mr
Fuzzy in the box and the heap of colourful flowers, when we reached the
tents. Before I went to bed I thought of
all the fun me and Mr Fuzzy would have.
Then I closed my eyes and went to bed.
I work up
disturbed by a loud beeping noise. DAD! I grabbed my bag and gently hid Mr
Fuzzy behind my back. I had forgotten to
close Mr Fuzzy's box.
As I got in the
car I hadn’t noticed Mr Fuzzy climbing up my shirt.
“BEE! Get it out!
Get it out!” He screamed. It was like the alarm had gone off. I really knew not to argue with dad. He was the king of punishment. But I didn’t want to hurt his feelings.
I took a deep breath
in and opened the door. He was really
gone. It was the end of me and Mr Fuzzy.
Mr Fuzzy never got
to sleep at my house for eternity after all.

How are you arriving at school tomorrow?
Hmmmm How am I arriving at school tomorrow? As I got up, got dressed, ate my breakfast and started thinking how can i arrive at school tomorrow? I said to myself. It can be something random like on a limo but its a waste, maybe if I ride on a limo it might get a flat wheels maybe some other choices....... Hmmmm how about a private jet but maybe its a bit dangerous - it might crash ....... Oh how about a boat, I like boats cause they are so peaceful but it might sink like the Titanic. Well I want to live! Maybe another good idea ......Oh how about sky diving. I think that's a good idea but I might get a serious injury.
What am I thinking! All these negatives are giving me a headache.
"Mum! I feel sick!"
So I guess I won't be arriving at school tomorrow.

What is that Strange Light coming from behind the Whiteboard? By Patrick
What is the strange light coming from behind the
whiteboard? By Patrick.
“What is that strange light coming from behind my
whiteboard?” I say to myself. Maybe it is just my little sister Emily.
“Stop playing around Emily.”
“I am playing with my dolly’s” she says.
Then I wonder what it is so I go see what it is behind
the whiteboard. There was nothing. So I sat down continuing to watching T.V.
It came back so I looked at it again. It went away.
Then I continue watching T.V.
There it is again. I went to my
mum.
She said “what?”
“Come with me.
Look at the strange light.”
“Maybe it is the sun.”
“No it isn’t.”
“Then I don’t know.
Have you seen Emily’s torch?”
“What?”
I looked again.
Yes it was the torch.
“Here.”
“Thank you.”
The batteries were almost flat and that is why it was
flickering.

Who is that little monster eathing all the ice-cream? By Genevieve
Oh you mean my pet.
I am really sorry that he ate all the ice cream in your house! He can be greedy with his tiny mind saying ‘Go
get all the ice cream that you see.’ So I
try to not let him run away. Oops he ran
away again! It’s annoying. Now he’s back again. One minute.
“Fluffy, here’s a little treat for you!”
Aha! Got him! I caught him in my hands. But he didn’t seem to mind. He was too busy eating the ice cream that I
gave him. Fluffy will write you a
story.
Once
upon a time there……
“Now Fluffy, don’t make a mess of the paper! Here I’ll do it. Besides it doesn’t make any sense at all.” Ok, here’s how it starts:
Once upon a time there lived a lonely monster called
Fluffy. He was red with black spots like
a lady bird. He had little emerald eyes
like his father. One day he saw me
walking along in his world and he kept on jumping up in front of me.
I said, “Do you have any parents?”
He began to whimper and shake his head. He is soooo cute I thought. So I took him home and gave him my favourite
ice cream Cookies and Cream. He ate the
whole tub! And he got a taste of all the
other ice creams. So that’s how he was
greedy and ended up in my house.
Oh my goodness!
Where has that naughty little monster got to now?! Oh no, he’s eating all the ice cream in the
world! He’s going to vomit! EWW!!! The people shouted. The people in their homes (like me) didn’t
get covered. So that was 50% of
people. Good. But now all the other 50% of people are
vomiting outside. It’s so disgusting. Thank goodness for glass.
Now I’ll never let my pet monster anywhere near ice cream
again. You know I just said that, well
because my pet monster is eating more ice cream from other universes. Let me catch that monster. I’d actually want to give him some vegetables
or no ice cream for a week.
I think that would be a good idea!
